DEC Bids Sad But Excited Farewell to Amy Benson

People involved in exporting are typically adventurous souls eager to explore new places, languages, cultures, and systems as they seek markets for their products. The Idaho District Export Council (DEC) is filled with members who might work a trade show in the Far East, visit customers in London, or welcome foreign visitors to Idaho.

With this in mind, it was sad but not surprising that Amy Benson, Director of the U.S. Commercial Service in Idaho, recently informed the DEC that she had accepted a position as the Deputy Senior Commercial Officer for the U.S. Commercial Service in Johannesburg, South Africa.

For 19 years, Amy provided peerless service to the export community in Idaho. Amy was so effective and so helpful that her name became synonymous with the word “Export.” Though Amy’s departure leaves a hole in our hearts, DEC members are excited to see Amy follow her heart and pursue a great adventure.

Amy’s colleague, Karen Ballard, will continue to serve Idaho exporters while the U.S. Commercial Service fills Amy’s position in Boise.

Bon Voyage, Amy. We look forward to hearing about your adventures and to seeing you in Idaho or South Africa.
